SUPERSTAR'S 'DOOKUDU': SOON IN HINDI! - IBNLIVE

New Delhi: Mahesh Babu has met with the elusive success after five years in 'Dookudu'. The mega star of Telugu cinema has probably got the biggest hit of his life in 'Dookudu'.

Released across the globe, the film is smashing earlier box office records with ease. The stunner crossed Rs 9 crore limit on the very first day, which is by any standard a huge collection for a regional film.

Now, 'Dookudu' is anticipated to surpass the total collection of 2009 hit 'Magadheera', which is the biggest Telugu hit of all times.

Mahesh Babu, the style prince of Telugu cinema, was never out of race but he was definitely waiting for a revival.

The ultra macho man of south India had shown the glimpses of the type of star he was in making in his first film 'Raja Kumarudu' only. 'Yuvaraju', 'Vamsi', 'Murari' and 'Okkadu' consolidated his position in the industry.

Then came the film everybody was waiting for. 'Pokiri' by Puri Jagannadh wrote a whole new chapter in south Indian films' encyclopaedia.

Mahesh Babu was everywhere after 'Pokiri'. He started to sell soft drinks to hair oil.

Married to former Miss India and her co-star in 'Vamsi', Namrata Shirodkar, Babu was riding high on the success waves when the balloon got punctured.

Surprisingly, Babu's filmography became devoid of success for a long time after 'Pokiri', however he was known India wide till then.

A known face for Hindi cinema lovers, Prabhu Deva decided to remake 'Pokiri' in Hindi after its grand success. Recognising the great potential of churning out a blockbuster, Salman Khan readily agreed to play the lead role in Pokiri's remake 'Wanted'.

Next five years and four unsuccessful films strengthened his critics who were waiting for one or two more films before writing his box office obituary.

Now, the critics will have to wait for some time as 'Dookudu' is breaking records in India and overseas.

The film is a typical south Indian stylish drama, where Prakash Raj is a good natured politician for a change. He goes into coma due to some political treachery and his family moves to Mumbai as it feared fatal attacks on other family members too.

Mahesh Babu, who does not know the history, becomes a fearless police officer as expected and sets out on a mission to finish Nayak (Sonu Sood), who is the kingpin behind the drug trafficking racket.

The story then takes the ultra masculine hero to Istanbul where he plots a well crafted net to trap Nayak.

'Dooduku' has opened with mostly good reviews and doing well despite some logic defying sequences.

It's just a matter of time before some Hindi film producer acquires the right to remake it in Hindi with established Bollywood actors. If reports are to be believed then many are already in line to grab the rights.
